Treatment

The name of my project is going to be far from home, which expresses the story of my animation project and represents the meaning of my animation. My project is going to be about 80-90 seconds long because the task requires you to present a story about hope under 90 seconds. My main demographic are children age from 3 to 10 to show them what different meanings of hope, as well as looking at my research and the animation style I have chosen is suitable to represent ideas and meaning to children in a funny and easy visual form.

An apple that has been born in a world that it didn’t fit in, trying to get by day by day, living slowly and depressed but the apple hasn’t given up hope, it wanted to believe that it can live happier. However one day someone decided to cut it off the tree after deciding that the apple didn’t fit in and the apple fell rolling, rolling and rolling until it got run over. The apples has been born in another world that was just like it, happy, colour full and exiting.

My main character is an apple that has been born in the wrong world hoping that it can find a place for it self where it fill fit in.

The starting “world” which is the first minute of the animation is dark not much colour the camera is still, there is a tree with no leaves no fruits just the old dark trunk of  and whats left of it, there is also dark streets empty buildings showing no sings of happiness or hope.

Near the ending this changes, I have added more movement into the animation and made everything colourful to express happiness and hope, there are cars a basketball that rolls by the grass is moving as well as you can hear the sounds of the forest.

There are different sounds inside the animation depending on the action within the stage like wind, grass, cut noise etc… This is to bring the animation more alive as well as showing what i said in the last paragraph about the first half being sad, slow and depressing.

I have chosen this idea because I think that it helps to show me and represent the hope that i see with my eyes and thats what will make a good project because its what I see and what i want to express. To make this project as good as it can I need to improve my presenting skills and story telling to be able to make my story understandable to all audience. The skills I have right now to be able to make my project good are my after effects and animation skills because I think after my research and tutorials i can do basic animating which is what I nee for my project.

My research comes from the internet as well as people around like my collage mates or the tutors that I have asked about things that I didn’t understand or when something wasn’t clear to me. I have also made a questionnaire for people to give me feedback and I count that as my primary research because its something that teaches me what I could improve in my other projects as well as what the audience want and how different audience see what I’m trying to represent.

I’m going to use After Effects and Illustrator as well as Photoshop to put everything together and create props as well as backstage.

The biggest problem that I always encounter is things that sound good but turn out terrible or not the way I want it to or see it myself. For example the animation might not be as smooth as I want and this will make the whole scene or part of the animation not as I want, this leads to me losing my plan and getting distracted as well as turning negative of the outcome of my project. I will try to overcome it by not getting distracted as well as not aiming too high after looking at professionals and their animating skill and also I will try o keep positive about my work no matter how it turns out.

I need to take in consideration copyright, trademark. This means I can’t just take someones idea and recreate it or make it almost identical or even take the original and just change it a bit and claim it main because that is ethically wrong as well as morally because that means I stole someones hard work and didn’t give him any credit for his idea. Also I can’t just use Mercedes name or logo or even their car design because i do not own the right to be able to do so. Without the owners permission I can’t use logos or names in my animation.

Software licensing, workspace and paying for copyright or any royal fees for using someones logo or name to represent something in my animation. For example store name Adidas.

I think that I will finish my animation within the deadline which is 5 weeks. I will have my animation completed in the 4 week to have 1 week breather which will allow me to make any changes or respond to feedback as well as lower the danger of running into problems by having time to fix them or take time to think stuff through and take precaution to not run into those problems.

Basket ball animation

In this practise I was applying the squash and stretch principle to create the basic physics of the ball when it hits surrounding objects as well as the border of the animation. The ball need to stretch to reimagine a real life ball hitting an object and stretching out the particles and air inside it. This is important to do to create the physics and realism of your animation.

The 12 principles of animation

The 12 principles of animations are basic rules for animating.

For example having physics and making something look realistic needs to apply to real world action. Like a ball bouncing around and hitting objects or walls need to squash and stretch so the ball looks like its hitting a hard object applying pressure and making it look like the objects have a fill instead of feeling empty. This was one of the principles the others are:

  • Anticipation
  • Staging
  • Straight Ahead Action and Pose to Pose
  • Follow Through and Overlapping Action
  • Slow In and Slow Out
  • Arc
  • Secondary Action
  • Timing
  • Exaggeration
  • Solid drawing
  • Appeal

For character movement and action as well as face expression its easy to us a bone rig tool or parent tool to create smooth movement as well as saving time moving each anchor point on the character. These tool make a connection with 2 anchor points on 2 objects pulling the object connected to it.

These principles and tools apply to stop motion animation as well as 3d and CGI.

Animation Evaluation

Screen Shot 2017-04-28 at 14.36.15.png

2D Animation Evaluation:

I have  made my animation using Adobe photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe After Effects to create my animation and the assets to go with it. Having learned before different animation techniques and the layout of After effects to successfully create a keyframe animation.  A Keyframe animation is where there user uses a timeline to edit and and put effects in at certain times. This is a good form of animating because when you animate something going form point a to b the software will fill in between.

The animation style i went for was a easy 2d animation with a perspective of a 3d giving the animation graphics and depth to the illustrations. I have kept the same animation style thought out the whole animation.

In after effect I have used effects like screen transition as well as text boxes and  shapes. I have used a keyframe animation because i think its a lot easier to do so with the program filling the animation for you it also saves a lot time, however i noticed that sometimes the program tends to bug and not fill in the information and move the objects instantly  instead.

I was influenced by old 2d animations like tom and jerry flintiness  with simple graphics and animation movement.  I liked theses animation as a kid thats why i went with such style because the animation target audience were children and the animation ratting should either be u or pg.

At first my idea was going to be about the battle of stalingrad and the sense of hopes for the soliders to see their families yet again as well as see the new rise of the sun.

Then i was going to make it about ww 1 and how soliders wanted to see the end of water however both of these idea went out because i needed something suitable for children. Thats when i decided about idea of a mum cat losing her child and hoping to see find it again however i decided to choose an idea of a an apple that didnt’t fit in the world. That then it dead and because it didn’t stop believing it gotten a second chance to live.

I think that my animation was good but it could have spend more time doing animations and spend more time developing the story and the final idea as well as sketches and the animation key points that clear up the story more for the viewers.

This question gives me  feedback about the music I have used to create an ending with a sad atmosphere and looking at peoples responses it shows me that I have mostly successfully transported the feeling to the viewers.

Screen Shot 2017-06-19 at 11.13.09

The first question I asked if I should animate anything else that would improve the general quality of the animation and the feedback I got was that i haven’t generally done a lot of animation and my animation felt still, which shows me that I need to put more effort into animating and and researching different animation techniques.

The second question I was asking about my colour pallet choice and how did it create an atmosphere at the end of the animation and what they felt, my plan was for it to be confusing, the audience should fell sad and happy at the same time, the result showed that I mostly succeeded however I thought that I needed to add something extra to the ending that will show this feeling even more.

Screen Shot 2017-06-19 at 11.12.58

Asking about the speed of the animation which showed that mostly my animation felt the right pace but not for all, this is something I need to improve on i keeping the same speed of the animation through out the project.

Screen Shot 2017-06-19 at 11.12.49

Some viewers got the idea that the representation of hope was not giving up however I think that thats the worst part of my animation it the story doesn’t make sense and it doesn’t really represent anything. This is something I really need to improve in the future and focus on mostly.

Screen Shot 2017-06-19 at 11.12.36

This support my paragraph above that the story makes no sense.

This feedback shows me that my naming was correct and it fit the animation as well as represented a deeper meaning of home is where you are believe it is not where you are.

This is a link to the questionnaire that I gave to other students in the class so they can fill in and i can get feedback about animation. I’m going to use this feedback to improve my future projects as well as pay more attention to details that where specified in the feedback i received back.

As well as student feedback I received brief feedback from my teacher about my animation style, grammar mistakes and my story and how it didn’t fully represent hope. After taking back this feedback i have rethought my animation and made sure that its easier for others to understand the story as well as making it look more professional.

Comparing this animation to  a professional made animation like tom and jerry which i spoke about in my research my animation is a lot more slower and has a lot less animation inside of it compared, by this i mean most of my frames are still images.

Stop motion Evaluation:

After doing my 2d animation i have done the research and gathered different ideas for my stop motion as well as doing a mood boards and story boards with different ideas to help me form my final product.

I have settled with a idea of smarties being placed frame by frame onto the black appear forming a letter n. Then I have added gun sounds so it enhances the frames making them look like someone is shooting them onto the paper. This type of stop motion is called object stop motion where object move around the screen with no visible help from living things as well as not representing any living thing.

If i don’t this again i would add something to the animation because its really simple as well as make sure the camera wasn’t moving each frame because it makes the animation look jittery. Also make less distraction on the screens at the background because instead of focusing on the moving objects the eye also look around the background distracting the audience from the main focus of my animation.

My first idea was about me spilling water and then moving it with my finger to form the letter n  however after receiving feedback from my teacher i was told that its not really stop motion because i could have just recorded that instead of making frame by frame. So I decided on this to make it look like its magically appearing on the screen.

Animation Research

Animation boiling.

Example of animation boiling: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnB6xvmIfY0

Animation boiling is when the animation art style bounces around. Its mostly used by cartoon and simple animation to make the character or object look like its moving.

Processes of animation:

The first step of successful animation is making a storyboard or storyboards that you can represent your idea and see how will it work as well as think about the effect, sound effect, transitions, lighting, staging ,props. When you are making your animation you can always look back at it and see if what you making now is the same as you were planning to do so.

Then you can start thinking about possible voice over or soundtrack to help you support your idea as well as help representing it to your audience, this is the time to start thinking about your target audience and what changes you should make to make it more suitable for the chosen target audience.

Start drawing sketches for you animation and your props as well as characters and backgrounds and see how you can make sure to keep the style of the drawings consistent. After sketching out different poses, emotion, face expressions, movements you can start making the characters and props for the animation, following your story board and looking at your sketches to make sure you follow the plan and story you laid out.

In the old days they had 24 drawings for 1 frame to create smooth movement as well as separating the background from the character to show the movement, they would switch the drawings of the character and take a picture, change to the next drawing take a picture, then they will swap the background when needed for the transition.

Animation Timeline:

cartoon_cavemen_chart

You can see that animation have gone long way with colour and how complex and detailed they get.

1-history-of-animation-timeline-2-638.jpg

  • Traditional Animator (2D, Cel, Hand Drawn)
  • 2D Animation (Vector Based)
  • 3D Animation (CGI, Computer Animation)
  • Motion Graphics (Typography, Animated Logos)

Stop Motion (Claymation, Cut-Outs)

2 examples of 2d animations:

This is Tom and Jerry which first aired in 1940. This is one of the most successful animation till date.  The first episode was made in black and white and it was a really simple animation style, however it was really complex to make in those times, It was hand drawn on paper and then recorded page by page to create a moving animation. Now if you make a mistake you can just change or move a certain object in a software, back then you had to change everything after the mistake to make sure the rest of the animation fits.

The episode above is from 1954 where people started to adapt colour into their animations and use more complex techniques as well as making the animation more smooth by adding more frames,(pictures drawn a second) to make the animation feel more smooth and more enjoyable to watch. Exactly 24 frames per second is the best for 2d animation.

This cartoon does not involve the main characters speaking which makes this cartoon even more interesting because even as the times progressed and every movie started to use narrators or making characters speak and interact with each other tom and jerry did not keeping the tradition of the animation, yet still making us attracted to the character making them feel what we feel and sometimes relate to the show.

This is Kimi no na wa (Your name) directed by Makoto Shinkai Is a modern 2d animation aka anime film. This is high budget production anime that uses 2d hand draw animation with added cgi elements and effect to make it look semi-3d at times.

This animation use music and character interacting with each other to create sympathy and make the audience attracted to the characters and story. The animation also use music which now every single production film has because it helps to create atmosphere and make the audience feel the way the narrators wants.

The two animation are far apart from each other in age however they are still both 2d animation. Kimi no na wa attract audience with its sound, animation style and music where tom and jerry is old and well known attracting audience was easier back then because it was something new.

It uses very complex techniques like reflection, and it uses skeletal animation to make sure each part of the body feels and move realisticly and having laws of physics.

These are different animation styles. For this assignment we were asked to do a 2d animation it can either be traditional or vector based.

One punch man is a westernised animation that got really famous for its story and the animation style of fight scenes and the way that characters express themselves. The animation is a 2d animation that tricks the viewers into thinking some parts are 3d.

The story is original and fresh. Its about a super hero that is insanely strong defeating enemies with just one punch.  The story seems boring however its not because the character makes himself look like he is just stealing other peoples. credit, making the show take twists and turns.

Adobe after effects is a program that is very good to use for 2d animation because its simplistic, it support 3 party add ons and it contains already scripted commands for example a sphere package where the user can insert a mesh and it will change that mesh into a sphere, it also fills in the timeline for the user to complete the animation.

HARMONY ADVANCED is a  software that can be used instead  of adobe after effects is something that the professionals use to create animation and short animated films.

ANIME STUDIO is another animating program that even support unreal engine that is a game engine however its still and good program just to create character movement because it has really good skeleton system where the user can move parts of the body and record for the animation.

Hope can mean different thing for different people however the definitions I found on google were:

  • a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen.
  • a feeling of trust.
  • want something to happen or be the case.

Hope to me means something that a person desires and hopes that he gets or something happens, it also show a sign that the person hasn’t given up he is having hope that it something can happen.

Hope can be something positive for example hoping that someone will get better or it can be something more negative like hoping that someones punishment will be severe.

In religion hope I can mean achieving something like in buddhism it can mean becoming enlightened or it can mean reaching heaven for christians.

In some cases it can also be something really simplistic like hoping that you will get a toy that you wanted for christmas. Hope in history was usually something to do with freedom, having hope for better living, in world wars people were hoping for peace and the stop of wars, we can also see this example when  obamas slogan for his presidential campaign was hope for a better future of america.

Why do we hope? Its a sign that a someone can be  a positive person, hoping makes some people happier and for some it gives a reason to live.

This years “film competition” is about hope. My first idea is about a street kitten that struggles to find food and goes through hard times however it doesn’t lose hope and it doesn’t surrender hoping for something good to happen and giving it a reason to live and carry on going.

STOP MOTION

There are 6 types of stop motion animations:

pixelation- uses either living things or human part of the body too move an object or form or create a scene with living organisms.

object animation – when you move an object and not show the human moving the object and the objects can not have facial expression or can not resemble living things

puppet – he process of filming puppets and other objects one frame at a time while incrementally moving or modifying them, giving the illusion of lifelike motion

cut out – cutout animation is a form of stop-motion animationusing flat characters, props and backgrounds cut from materials such as paper

Silhouette – Silhouette animation is animation in which the characters are only visible as black silhouettes.

claymationIn – animation stop motion animation is a cinematic process, or technique used to makes static objects appear as if they were moving. This technique is commonly used in claymation and puppet-based animation.

Example:

Kubo is a modern and one of the best examples if stop motion animation, it uses objects and puppet animation as well as cgi for effects to make a amazing effect. The best things in production of this stop motion is that the puppets face expression are not cgi created but 3 printed , and how well the cgi fit into the stop motion so the two animation types don’t clash together to take the spotlight, they balance each other out.

The standard frames per second for stop motion is 24, this make the animation speed not too fast and not too slow, just because its standard some stop motion experiment and try to fit different frames per second on stop motion animation, it mostly depends whats happening inside the animation it self and how much stuff and distraction is around it.

My stop motion animation is object animation, its about smarties forming the letter n, The animation is 5 seconds long and its a  object animation.

Hud are important in a lot of games as they give you lots of information like health bar or a minimap.

There are 3 different types of Hud:

Permanent hud: This is the main hud thats always there and the player has no control over it.

Pull-up hud: Determined by user so u can move it around or make it fade away when not used.A

Actioned Hud: is triggered by events for example as u are about to die in a game u hud will start flashing or change colour.

Hud stands for Heads Up Display. In the games above you can see the 3 different huds. The Titanfall 2 hud would be a permanent hud because the user has no control over it.The the Division Hud is a pull-up Hud because the user has control over it u can remove and move it about the screen.A action Hud would be the overwatch one when you have 100% charge towards your ultimate the hud changes at the bottom. It’s triggered by an event.

Moral and Ethics and Laws

According to the law the original owner has the right to sue the thief if there is harm done, for example the owner lost money etc… This is wrong ethically because no one would like credit to be stolen from them. I also think this is morally wrong because I wouldn’t like some one to earn money or get phrased for something that I made.

In this task i wouldn’t be able to use a design or a logo of a car like Mercedes or even smaller car companies and call it my because that would be stealing work from some one else. I can’t steal someones mini map design or logo and call it my own because thats wrong ethically.

Copyright (google meaning)-the exclusive and assignable legal right, given to the originator for a fixed number of years, to print, publish, perform, film, or record literary, artistic, or musical material.

In short some one can claim the right of their work to protect it  by the law that it’s his and no one has the right to use it without permission.

Trademark- is a claim on name or word similar to copyright the rights to the owner are protected by the law. This means in my game i wont be able to use the word BMW or any other trademarked protected words in my game without asking the permission of the owners.

In this assignment I can’t use big car brands or logos or car design because its ethically wrong, its a against the law for me to use a car design that belong to Mercedes or jaguar for example, as well as using hud from already existing games. This also applies to music I can’t use someones music in my game without their permission.

Moral and ethics is between right and wrong, is it right to do something or is it not, Ethically wrong or right is were a group of people are sharing the same opinion about whats wrong and whats right, where moral is more about the individual belief.

For example stealing a bike to save a someone is ethically wrong but morally right.

As well as pegi rating here in uk we have u,+3,+7,+12,+16,+18, this is important and all games have to have one according to law. These ratings are given based on the content of the game.

MARIO KART HUD MY EDTIONpng.png

This is my recreation of Mario kart double dash hud in photoshop using techniques I learned in lesson. I have learned how to to 3d type and keep the gradient. I do that by rasterise the type first before changing it into 3d. I have also learned that u can copy the layer style which copies all of the information about the styles and special effect on the layer and applies it to the layer the user wants it too

hqdefault

This is the first Mario Kart game in the history. It was called super Mario Kart. The hud was a 16-bit and it came out in 1992. The hud was really simple and it only had a permanent hud. The graphics were pixilated and not sharp.

mario-kart-64

The next game in the saga was Mario Kart 6. The Hud started to evolve creating a new type of hud called action hud which showed after a specific requirement. The font became more detailed and easier to read. It also showed the first 4 players.

43323-Mario_Kart_-_Super_Circuit_(U)(Inferno)-9.pngThe next sequel is Mario kart super circuit which included direction sings that were a part of a action hud showing how step the next turn will be. The part on the left shows the first 4 players and if the player was one of them the box around the avatar would be glowing yellow, this is also a part of the action hud. The Hud now has a lot more detail to it and gives more information like how many coins you have and who is the the next character in front.  This was on a gameboy advance a hand held console.

slide-attack

Mario Kart double dash is the next game in the on going series. This was a revolution as the game featured a 32 bit resolution. Making the Hud a lot more colour full and sharper. There is also a speedometer which wasn’t featured in other Mario kart games. The Font had depth making it look 3d.

Mario_Kart_DS_screenshot.png

The mario kart ds hud changed lot from the mario kart double dash game. Mainly the reason that the ds is a hand held console. The bottom part of the hud is the map which utilised the unique structure of the ds. It had the leaderboards. The made the hud smaller removing the speedometer. This version had no action hud.

mario_kart_wii_screenshot

This mario kart game hud was alot more simple and easier to understand the information it gives you. The mini map on the other hand was a lot more advanced showing the direction u are facing and faces of the characters. As this was made for a home console the action hud has returned when ever u picked up an item.

mario-hang-glider

Mario Kart 7 for the 3ds had its hud mostly removed and moved to the other screen of the ds containing the map and the leaderboards. The time laps. The actual game screen only contained your place and the action hud which shows up every time you picked up a power up.

imgres

Mario Kart 8 Is the newest game and it has a simple Hud. It uses action hud when u pick up a power up. It has the you position on the right the  font is really clear and easy to read. On the left it tells you how many laps u have left and how many coins u have collected.

Need-for-Speed-2015-Download-Free-1024x576.png

The game is need for speed 2015 and its the last racing game I played that is photo realistic. The hud in the game fits the game style and theme. The main things that this game does that separate it from other games is the sound and music that this games uses to make the player feel immersed in the game and feel realistic. There are 3 different huds that are used in this game. Permanent, action and pull up. The permanent is the map and speedometer and the nitrus level. The action is the drift and rep multiplayer that comes out when ever the players starts doing drifts of tricks. The pull up is what the speedometer displays like khm or mph. The hud is easily visible. The game also lets you edit the hud and move or disable the hud elements to personal preference. The map tracks the player positions and rotates the angle to the direction u facing , which mean that the curser on the map that represents your position is always facing north and the map rotates to fit this. Another action hud is when ever the player or the music in game changes it shows the music currently playing as well as tutorials and tips. The hud can be resized.

Task 4 Evaluation

This is my second media assignment and I feel like I could have done better. I should have spend more time on actual designing then research and making my sketchbook more presentable and done more sketch development.

I have done research about car dashboards game huds and car game huds and additionally I done some music research for the game. I done most of my research online and the rest was my knowledge. I have learned about the 3 types of huds as well as why they are important and why we use them for different situations.

My logo design is what most of my design time went into because I couldn’t decide what the right logos would be that fit the name and they are unique so the players can choose the team they think they like the most and they can join or relate too. With the actual design I have used photo shop and illustrator to create these logos most vector graphics were done in illustrator and the colours and text was done in Photoshop.

The actual hud. This part was probably the part I found the hardest because what ever I tried to sketch and plan I never felt that the hud will fit the style of the game which is photo realistic . However in the end I started to run out of time so I had to pick one of my designs. I have made the hud completely in photo shop using eclipse tool and rectangle tool to create the speedometer background and the charge of the car. To create the map I used the pen tool which then I changed to a selection and added a stroke using fill under edit tab. Then I decided to make it 3d changing the thickness of the track and rotating it on the z and y axis. I have done this so the map is easier to look at the it looks more modern because more and more games are starting to use 3d hud.

The music research is something I done to make the game project more interesting because I think the atmosphere that game create wouldn’t be possible without music especially car games where there are fast paste racing and emotion and thrill that the player can immerse himself in the game and imagine like he is inside that car racing for the team of his choice that he supports. After doing my research I concluded that the modern car games mostly use music genres like Trap, Dubstep and all the branches of dubstep for example EDM. They use this music because its usually fast paste and creates tension and also its modern music which a lot of people listen to now so it adapts to the crowd and times.

I have also started to draw designs for cars I have 4 prototypes that could be used in the game. I have drawn them look at aero dynamics so the cars can reach their maximum speed and not get slowed by the wind in London.

The map track I chose Is simple and easy to follow there is a lot of places to speed because they are straight road however there are also sharp turns to slow the players down and create the thrill of the track. On the track there are 4 chagrin stations that the players needs to go through which slows them down for couple of seconds. However if u run out of charge on the road your car will stop and start going a lot slower punishing you for not watching your charge.

Music research

Im going to use Need for Speed (2015) as an example because I think that this game has realistic sound. The game uses Frostbite Engine creating realistic sounds and environment engaging the player to feel like he is inside the game. mon_nov_2_21-31-52_est_2015

The game has an engaging Soundtrack ranging from peaceful slow audio too intense music when racing creating tension.

The developers of the game used realistic car sounds in the game to immerse the player. They also realised that sound is the most crucial thing in  a racing game. After  releasing this the dev team and sound team interacted and worked together all the time synchronizing the sound and the events in the game.

To create the sounds that their target audience and all audience will enjoy and immerse themselves in the work of art. To do this they interact with their costumers carrying out surveys and events which the community can get involved.

The games soundtrack has its own created songs to perfectly fit with the current event thats happening within the game. However they use a lot of music that already been created and its on top of the charts to attract audience.

The game uses a lot of different genres of music to attract bigger audience. The games soundtrack changes upon actions taken in the game. The game uses faster and lauder music when racing and also changes to heavier genre like electric, dubstep or metal.

The sounds in the game were recorded and are realistic which fits the theme of the game which is a realistic car simulator with photorealistic graphics. Music and sound are a big part of the entertainment because its almost everywhere. Movies, games, tv shows etc.., without music or sound films would be dull and it would be impossible to create suspense and good atmosphere.

The music genre and how it sounds has to fit the game theme. For example game like need for speed is set in current time and it has a lot of music that sounds electric and pop style because the setting of the game is city racing and new technology as well as reputation and being cool.

The game like forza which is a heavy competitor to need for speed also has even better  photorealistic graphics however need for speeds sound track is more unique and fitting the style of the game. Forza’s soundtrack has fast and tense songs that fit the fast rally racing  style and high action where need for speed is more chilled out and relaxing when moving about the city at night and exploring the detail that the game has immersing the player with the sounds and soundtrack. However in races and duels the game soundtracks speeds up and gets more aggressive to create adrenaline and tension therefore the sounds keep up with the speed of the car making it flow in one motion and fitting it in.

Games like need for speed is set in current time and it has a lot of music that sounds electric and pop style because the setting of the game is city racing and new technology as well as reputation and being cool. Making the music fit the atmosphere and theme of the game as well as the audience is difficult because everyone sees something different and interpret it their own way thats why music is so important in film or game is to forma  path for the audience they can follow to understand the message and the meaning of production as well as the story and emotion you trying to portrait in the scene. Music can also make people remember or help to recognise certain parts of the production, for example some one listing to a song like “we are free” from gladiator will remember and visualise the last scene from the movie.

Plan/ task 2:

29/11/2016 I have researched and listened to sounds for the game need for speed and started my research on how to create music using garage band loops as well as using different effect to enhance my audio. i will also play around with different loops and see how they go together to help me decide on the emotion and genre of the song.

13/12/2016 I have continued my research on how the developers of need for speed created the sounds and how the made it so immersive for the game. I have research on what Is needed to create a certain emotion within the music and how to make a path for the audience to lead them to the atmosphere you want to create.

10/01/2017 I have started making my first track by design what music genre is appropriate for the topic and starting to use garage band to create the base of the first track using loops and changing effect like pitch or eq

17/01/2017 I’m continuing to make the first track changing and adding stuff, asking my friends and the teacher for feedback to improve the track and make it better,  I will listen to the feedback and improve my work.

24/01/2017 Stated to create my second track and deciding on how to start and what i want I want the sound to represent and what emotion do I want to portrait with the music as well as the content and genre of the music,

31/01/2017 Finishing of my research and my track 2, adding special effects like surround sound and trying to make a end to the songs with something more unique then a fade out.

7/02/2017 asking friends for feedback on the research and tracks, finishing the track and doing last minute fixes and checking if my music has rendered out properly as well as checking if there are no errors in the sound. Making sure the effects work as they intended, like the fade outs and mixers.

Creating music for a game can either be some loops put together or it can be complex mix of vocals and sounds mixing using eq and sound effects to enhance  the audio and music within the game making the sound more polished and unique. I am going to create a soundtrack for a car game using loops in garage band as well as use different effects of mixing  and changing the APM as well as surround sound to make the audience feel the emotion and atmosphere I will trying to create.
